About this event and the Jewellery

The jewellery you see on this site is all handmade and often custom made to fit a particular customer's needs.

My designs are all unique and not two are the same. For this reason I buy beads and findings from various suppliers in small quantities. I also buy vintage beads as I am a great believer in all kinds of recycling and this seems to me the most beautiful and perfect way of recycling: vintage beads in a new setting to be treasured for many more years to come.

My inspiration is the sea, flora, and Edwardian jewellery which shows in the designs on this site. I love colour and spend hours selecting beads until I have the mixture for a particular design just right.

The jewellery is made mostly with high qualitiy glass beads, although some wood, shells, pearls and mother of pearl, and the occasional lucite bead sneaks into one of the designs, however this means that some of the designs are fragile and the beads will smash or crack if not treated with care.

I use mainly silver plated, copper and bronze findings, although there's the occasional bit of leather, the loveliest organza, and shimmery silky threads that find their way into my jewellery and other designs.

The jewellery you see here is not like any you can buy in the shops. Next time you go into town check it for yourself. You will find that a lot of the jewellery sold is made of base metals, metallised plastic and the beads are made of plastic, too. The jewellery might look great in the shop, but wear it a couple of weeks and it won't look quite the same. My jewellery is made to last and uses high quality components. It is also unique and you won't see five people wearing exactly the same jewellery as you just walking down the high street.

My prices are based on the time it takes and the cost of the components. I make jewellery because I enjoy the making of it, not because I am after a high profit margin.

The jewellery for kids is made partly with plastic or wooden beads to ensure their safety, however, it should not be given to children under the age of at least six.
